FPM JAX: Fantasy Hi-Five

FPM logoThe California Swing is in the books, time for the WPT to move to Florida for its next two events as Season XII is drawing to a close – first up? The WPT Jacksonville bestbet Poker Open. We bring you five players to look at when putting together your Fantasy teams for JAX – remember, players are able to re-enter the event on each Day 1 so, if one of your heroes is out, he/she may be right back in it!

JASON MERCIER

Jason Mercier GPIEarlier today, we talked about how Jason Mercier (GPI#5) has plenty ridding on the line coming into this event in his home state. A win and Mercier could overtake Daniel Negreanu (GPI#1) at the top of the GPI300 … all of this, of course, depending on what the final GPI Scores will be for this event.

Mercier already has six cashes this season – five of which were eligible for GPI Points – including a 43rd place finish earlier this month at the WPT L.A. Poker Classic. He also finished 18th in the Aussie Millions Poker Championship Main Event in January.

DYLAN WILKERSON

It’s still very, very early but Dylan Wilkerson (GPI#127) had been terrorizing the opposition so far in Jacksonville. Unofficially, Wilkerson currently has twice the chips as the second place person in the standings … that’s pretty good.

Did we mention that Wilkerson has also finished second in TWO WPT Main Event in a month? He earned a second place finish at the WPT Fallsview Classic in late February followed by a runner-up finish at the WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star just last week.

FARAZ JAKA

Faraz Jaka GPIFaraz Jaka (GPI#113) is one of two players who entered this tournament playing a freeroll prior to the start of Day 1A action at bestbet Jacksonville. All players who had played all Main Event during the WPT California Swing was able to participate in this mornings’s freeroll. Jaka and Micah Raskin (GPI#116) were the lucky winners!

Jaka hasn’t enjoyed the successes he had in the past recently, but, he has gone deep in a few events in the past calendar year … plus, he’s such an entertaining player, why wouldn’t you want to add “The Toilet” to your squad!

LILY KILETTO

Lily Kiletto (GPI#420) has been running hot for the past few months on tour. It all started in December, where Kiletto would qualify for her second WPT Final Table, finishing 5th at WPT Montreal.

Kiletto finished 19th at the WPT Lucky Hearts Open in Coconut Creek, Florida, a year after finished 2nd to Matt Giannetti in the same event … most recently, she won the silver at HPT California at the Agua Caliente Casino in Rancho Mirage.

SHAWN CUNIX

For some reason, I’m a sucker when it comes to adding former champions to my team. A player has never won the same event twice on the World Poker Tour but some have enjoyed deep runs … and that’s what I’m looking for when putting my team together – they can’t ALL win!

Shawn Cunix (GPI#919) sure had a tough time getting to Jacksonville, the city where he lifted the WPT Champions Club two years ago. He’s in now and, if all goes well during Day 1 play, he’s going to be on my team starting on Day 2!

Cunix finished 11th last month at the WPT Fallsview Poker Classic.
