FPM Sanremo: Fantasy Hi-Five

We’ve reached the penultimate event on the European Poker Tour. Many of the game’s best have gathered in beautiful Sanremo, Italy in hopes on adding a major title to their resumé right before the EPT Grand Final comes along. Here is our Fantasy Hi-Five for Sanremo:

AKU JOENTAUSTA

When you think of top poker pros from Finland, you often think Jouhkimainen, Ziigmund, Helppi and Kurko. You may want to add Aku Joentausta (GPI#150) to that list from now on. Joentausta has risen to #2 on the GPI National Top 10 in Finland.

Sanremo could be a great occasion for Joentausta to add to his points on the GPI. He earned four cashes just a few short weeks ago at EPT Vienna.

Joentausta ended Day 1A with 125,500 chips

ANTONIO LAFOSSE

He was Peru’s GPI Player of the Year for 2013, Antonio Lafosse (GPI#100) continues to climb the charts. He joined the GPI300 in October 2013 and has never looked back since. Lafosse, who is currently ranked 100th in the World, held the 71st spot on the 300 earlier this year.

Lafosse ended Day 1A with 88,700 chips

PIUS HEINZ

It’s never bad to add a German poker player to your FPM team … these days, it seems like Germans are winning everything. Add a WSOP World Championship to the equation and suddenly, you’ve got yourself a horse for the race!

Pius Heinz (GPI#2887) has been fairly quiet on the live tournament circuit since his WSOP Main Event victory back in 2011, but he has chips in this event, and we feel it could be the perfect time and place for the Champ to remind the poker world that he’s no one hit wonder.

Heinz ended Day 1A with 80,100 chips

OLIVIER BUSQUET

American heads-up specialist and WPT Alpha8 commentator Olivier Busquet (GPI#30) is next on our list. Busquet has already been active at EPT Sanremo playing in other events and looks to pad his points total ahead of the EPT Grand Final.

Busquet has collected at least 500K USD on the live tournament in four of the past five seasons … the only year he didn’t was in 2011, where he was 7K USD short of the 500K benchmark.

Busquet is currently involved in Day 1B play

JOHNNY LODDEN

I always like a player that has a recent significant score to his credit and Johnny Lodden (GPI#210) fits the bill!

Lodden recently finished 15th at EPT Vienna and is currently in contention on Day 1B in Sanremo, that’s a perfect recipe for me to add you to my team!

Lodden is currently involved in Day 1B play
