2013 GPI PoY: Silverman Shines

After four months atop the 2013 GPI Player of the Year leader board, Paul Volpe (GPI#11) is no longer the king of the mountain as WPT Alpha8 Florida Champion Steven Silverman (GPI#13) now holds the #1 rank.

HIGH ROLLER KING TAKES OVER

Steven Silverman GPISilverman’s big win in Florida was his second high buy-in win of the 2013 season. In May, Silverman defeated Anthony Gregg (GPI#136) in Monte Carlo to win the EPT Grand Final High Roller event.

In all, Silverman has picked up a total of nine cashes on the live tournament circuit in 2013, accumulating over 2.2M USD in winnings along the way:

SILVERMAN v. VOLPE | ROUND 2

Paul Volpe GPIWill Volpe be able to bounce back? We won’t have long to wait and see as Volpe is already playing his next event at the WPT Legends of Poker in Los Angeles. Although he busted Day 1A, Volpe is expected to return to action today and play Day 1B at the Bike.

Like Volpe, Silverman didn’t take long to get back on the felt as hours after winning in Florida, Silverman made his way to Spain to play EPT Barcelona and is currently competing in the 50K Super High Roller event.
