2013 GPI PoY: Volpe Wins Round 2, Back On Top

It only took a week for Paul Volpe (GPI#11) to take back what was his for the last four month, the #1 spot on the 2013 Global Poker Index Player of the Year leaderboard:

SILVERMAN v. VOLPE | ROUND 3

Paul Volpe GPIWe discussed Silverman v. Volpe Round 2 last week and it didn’t take long for Volpe to win the round and return to the #1 spot. Not only is Volpe back on top of the PoY race, he also places 11th on the GPI300 rankings, one spot away from joining exclusive company inside the GPI Top 10.

Volpe’s 298th place finish at the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open is all he needed to squeak past Silverman in what has become one of the most intense races of the season. Volpe was unable to pad his lead over the weekend at the Legends of Poker, were he failed to cash … meanwhile, Silverman’s trip to Spain hasn’t gone as planned, either, with zero scores so far at EPT Barcelona.

MOVERS AND SHAKERS

Blair Hinkle GPISeminole Hard Rock Poker Open winner Blair Hinkle (GPI#184) enjoyed the biggest jump of the week moving up close to 200 spots to 83rd overall, quite a huge jump for sure for the WSOP Bracelet Winner.

The Canadian duo of Mark Radoja (GPI#125) and Griffin Benger (GPI#81) also enjoyed good weeks. Radoja moved up over 100 places in the PoY standings sitting at #100 … Benger, who we interviewed this summer at the WSOP, moved into contention in the Player of the Year race by moving up to ninth overall on the GPI PoY Leaderboard.
