2014 GPI PoY: Mukul Pahuja Trending, Stammen On Deck

A final table performance in San Jose sees Mukul Pahuja enter the PoY Top 25 at #5…

PAHUJA ON FIRE

Just a few months ago, Mukul Pahuja (GP#21) was struggling to stay in the GPI300. Then, a runner-up finish at WPT Montreal would solve that problem. But Pahuja wasn’t satisfied with that one result and has been red-hot to start the 2014 poker season.

Pahuja started the year finishing 8th at the WPT Lucky Hearts Poker Open. He continued his Florida journey with an 11th place finish at WSOP Circuit West Palm Beach just a week later. Pahuja would then travel to California and embark on the WPT California Swing. He started off the swing with a by collecting a 30th place finish at the L.A. Poker Classic. Pahuja then made another WPT final table in San Jose, finishing 4th at the WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star. Pahuja would not score any points at WPT Rolling Thunder.

So far, so good for Pahuja, who not only moves into the GPI Top 25, his skyrockets to #5 overall on the 2014 GPI Player of the Year leaderboard, sitting 93 points behind leader Mike McDonald (GPI#7), who continues his reign atop the GPI PoY rankings.

Mukul is already back at his home in Florida, enjoying a little down time. Expect to see one of the hottest players on tour this weekend at the WPT Jacksonville bestbet Open.

Here is a look at Pahuja’s results so far this season:

STAMMEN ON THE RISE

Keven Stammen GPIAmerican pro Keven Stammen (GPI#44) was one of the biggest movers inside the PoY Top 25 this week, moving up seven spots to #4 overall.

But Stammen’s rise this week may very well just be a preview of what’s to come. Stammen finished 14th at WPT Rolling Thunder outside of Sacramento on Tuesday, but, since the tournament wrapped-up late on Wednesday night, those results will not hit the GPI until next week’s rankings update. Already in great shape, Stammen is about to become a serious contender in the GPI PoY race.

New to the Top 25 this week: Pahuja, #9 Isaac Baron (GPI#175), #15 Ronit Chamani (GPI#215), #18 Darren Elias (GPI#108), #21 David Paredes (GPI#45) and #22 Dylan Wilkerson (GPI#127).
