Bracelets and Bad Tweets in the Rio plus GUKPT Walsall Begins

Selbst to Avenge Hater’s Tweet

The $25K Mix Max might have finished with just two players left fighting for the first open bracelet of the WSOP earlier today but it was a tweet from Jason Mo that really caught the headlines.

After booking himself a place in the heads-up finale, the often outspoken pro let his feelings b known about his opponent, Vanessa Selbst, when he tweeted “Vanessa is so bad“.

The world’s best female player had eliminated Mo’s friend Ryan Fee earlier in the day and he decided to vent his frustration via social media.

However, the comment will likely have little effect on Selbst he managed to take out Al Decarolis in third to move within 2 million chips of Mo.

Indeed, when the betting resume Mo will start the session with 5,860,000 chips while Selbst will begin the battle with a 3,960,000 stack in the final showdown for the $871,148 top prize.

Dealer’s WSOP Joy

While the $25K event was moving closer to a conclusion, the $500 Casino Employee event finally wrapped up earlier.

Despite squeezing in a few hands of heads-up play on Thursday, Roland Reparejo and Corey Emery couldn’t bring their match to a close but when things resumed this morning it was the latter that triumphed.

With that chip lead in his possession, Reparejo didn’t relinquish his grip on the bracelet and within a few hands he was able to clinch the title, $82,835 and an “incredible to win“.

More Action from the Rio

The latest WSOP action also saw two more events get underway – Event #4 $1K NLHE and Event #5 $10K 2-7 Triple Draw – as well as the $1K PLO tournament finish its second day with just 6 players.

Leading the in the four-card affair is Steve Billirakis with 961,000 chips and when the action restarts he’ll be chased by Brandon Shack-Harris (695,000), Matthew Ryan (604,000), Iori Yogo (575,000), Morgan Popham (303,000) and Robert Paddock (250,000).

GUKPT Walsall Underway

The GUKPT’s latest jaunt to Walsall kicked off yesterday and when the betting had finished on Day 1A it was Brian Yates left in the driving seat.

After fighting his way past the likes of Simon Deadman, Darren Aston and Mark McCluskey, Yates was able to bag up 142,300 chips and lead the day’s 28 survivors into Day 2.

Overall 76 hopefuls anted up in the £500 and that number has increased to more than 150 with a running total of 85+ players already in action today. Indeed, with late registration still open at the time of writing that figure could easily increase as the session.

So far today the like of Willie Tann, John Eames and Ben Jackson will be looking to repeat the feat David Tighe managed last year when he outlasted 143 runners to bank £24,910.
