Get Ready for EPT Season 11, DTD April Grand Prix Draws an Impressive Crowd

PokerStars Announces EPT Season 11

The European Poker Tour‘s will (unsurprisingly) return for its eleventh incarnation later this year with an opening event in Barcelona, Spain.

Despite Season 10 still waiting for its conclusion (something which will happen later this month in Monte Carlo), Season 11 will get underway on August 16th with a special 100th EPT event and from there the tour will travel to London in October before heading to Prague, Deauville and Monte Carlo in 2015.

As ever EPT Season 11 will feature the likes of Daniel Negreanu, Liv Boeree and recent EPT San Remo champion Vicky Coren, and to ensure everyone is catered for the have promised some improvements to the schedule.

Although there are innovations yet to be announced, PokerStars has said that it will now offer Seniors Events (for anyone aged 50+), more non-Hold’em MTTs, reduced buy-ins (from €300 to €200) for ladies events and “fun” tournaments such as Crazy Pineapple competitions.

Another interesting change is that the buy-in for EPT London will be reduced to £4,000+£250 which converts to around €5,000 which will make it the same price as the EPT’s other European Main Events.

Commenting on Season 11, EPT President Edgar Stuchly said:

Season 10 has been a tremendous success and we’ve had some great feedback from players who welcome the even greater variety of events at the festivals and the wide range of buy-ins. Partnering the local tours means our events are more accessible than ever before and we pride ourselves on providing the most professional playing environment available anywhere in the world. We will be building on this formula in Season 11 and, as always, constantly striving to enhance the player experience.”

Luigi Viscomi Scoops Latest DTD Grand Prix

While the Irish Poker Open, WPT World Championship and EPT San Remo keep many of the game’s top pros entertained over the last few days, Dusk Till Dawn’s saw an impressive number of local grinders take part in its latest Grand Prix event.

Taking place inside the Nottingham card room, the £50+£10 deep stack event saw Europe’s premier poker venue (and its owner Rob Yong) guarantee another bumper prizepool (£150,000) and when the registration desks had closed 2,856 players had lined up for a shot at the cash.

Through a combination of live and online flights, the huge field was gradually whittled down until just nine players remained earlier this week.

When the finale got underway it was Luigi Viscomi leading the way and as betting began he never relinquished that position.

After watching those around and him fall the British pro found himself just a few moves away from the title and £25,000, but as his heads-up tussle with Vincent Campbell got underway he found himself facing a large chip deficit.

Fortunately he was able to dig deep and rally himself enough to reverse his disadvantage and claim the top prize after his pocket eight survived a final race against Campbell’s A-Q.
