GPI First Look: WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open

The Borgata Winter Poker Open is already underway in Atlantic … the WPT Main Event kicks off on Sunday:

Greg Merson GPIJust a few months after Anthony Zinno (GPI#102) defeated Vanessa Selbst (GPI#5) to win the WPT Borgata Poker Open, the World Poker Tour is back in Atlantic City for the WPT Winter Open where even with major tournament series currently underway in Deauville, France and Melbourne, Australia, a huge field is expected to fill the Borgata starting on Sunday.

Zinno, Selbst, 2012 WSOP World Champion Greg Merson, Joseph Serock, Bryn Kenney, Timothy Reilly, Aaron Massey, Ana Marquez  and Season XI WPT Player of the Year Matt Salsberg are just a few of the big name pros expected to be in the field.

BIG NAME WINNERS

John Hennigan GPIAfter a five year absence, the Borgata Winter Poker Open made its return to the WPT schedule in 2013 when Texas native Andy Hwang outlasted over 1,000 players to win the first major title of his poker career.

The tournament, which was presented on the WPT sked a total of three times prior to making its return in 2013, includes a list of who’s who on the WPT Champions Cup. In Season 4, GPI Player of the Decade #3 Michael Mizrachi would win his second WPT title … Season 5 would see John “World” Hennigan pickup the title while a win in Season 6 would allow Gavin Griffin to become the very first player to enter Poker’s Triple Crown Club.
