GPI National Austria | Top 10

AUT FlagEarlier this month, the European Poker Tour made a return to Vienna, Austria’s capital city. Most events in Vienna are in the books but we’re still looking for winners in the Main Event and the High Roller event as well.

Thomas Muehloecker (GPI#63) has been Austria’s brightest star on the EPT this season. He currently sits third on the EPT Player of the Year race, powered by the Global Poker Index.

#10 | SEVERIN SCHLESER

Coming off two side event results at EPT Vienna, Severin Schleser (GPI#2148) has collected 14 of his 15 career cashes in his homeland.

His only score outside of Austria was also the biggest one of his career. Schelser finished 3rd in the Main Event at WPT Caribbean; he would take home $63,500 for his efforts.

#9 | THOMAS DOLEZAL

Thomas Dolezal (GPI#2124) has three wins on the live tournament circuit.

His biggest career score came back in 2009 where he finished 7th at WPT Slovakia. Most recently, Dolezal cashed in the Eureka Mini prelim at EPT Vienna and earned an 18th place finish in the Main Event at Caribbean Poker Tour St. Maarten in November.

#8 | ALEXANDER RETTENBACHER

Alexander Rettenbacher (GPI#1781) has collected over 30 cashes in his six-year career on the live tournament circuit. His biggest score came back in 2010 where he finished second at the CAPT Velden Open and collected €76,080.

Rettenbaucher has won four times on the circuit, his biggest victory came at the CAPT Kitzbuhel Open in 2011 where he earned €44.460 for his efforts.

#7 | STEFAN JEDLICKA

Without a single score in 2014, Stefan Jedlicka (GPI#1496) is barely hanging on to a spot on the National Top 10 list.

Jedlicka has his breakthrough victory on tour in 2009, where he would earn €131,720 for his win at the Montesino Poker Grand Slam in Vienna.

#6 | MAXIMILIAN SENFT

Building off his 30th place finish at EPT Barcelona last September, Maximilian Senft (GPI#1423) is certainly hoping to score soon in 2014. Senft, who’s biggest cash to date came a year ago almost to the day at the GCOP III Main Event at the Kings Casino in Rozvadov, Czech Republic. Senft earned €51,713 for the victory.

Senft also earned a 7th place finish at WPT Vienna in 2012.

#5 | CLEMENS MANZANO

A 20th place finish in the Eureka High Roller event at EPT Vienna has allowed Clemens Manzano (GPI#961) to move to a career-best #961 on the Global Poker Index.

Manzano was the runner-up in the Poker EM CAPT European Championship in October 2011, earning €57,870 for his second place finish.

#4 | JOSIP SIMUNIC

Coming off a career victory at the Swiss Poker Champions Week this past January in Baden, Josip Simunic (GPI#776) hope this is a sign of what’s to come on the live tournament circuit for the rest of 2014.

The win was Simunic’s second of his career.

#3 | ERICH KOLLMANN

Erich Kollmann GPIA legend of Asutrian poker, Erich Kollmann (GPI#449) is still going strong. “Coolman” has collected 18 victories in his illustrious 18-year career on the live tournament circuit.

Kollmann, a former GPI300 member, is still going strong on the circuit. He collected a total of 16 cashes in 2013 and already has two cashes to his credit so far this season.

#2 | GERALD KARLIC

It’s already been a strong start to the season for Gerald Karlic (GPI#402), who hopes to become a member of the GPI300 in the coming weeks.

Karlic, a former prelim event winner at EPT Barcelona, has cashed three times so far in 2014. He started the season off strong with a 3rd place finish in a 1K prelim event at the 2014 PCA. He has since added scores at the GCOP III in the Czech Republic and in the Eureka Main Event at EPT Vienna.

#1 | THOMAS MUEHLOECKER

By far Austria’s top player, Thomas Muehloecker (GPI#64) earned over 1M USD in 2013, famously defeating Daniel Negreanu (GPI#1) heads-up in the EPT Barcelona High Roller event in September. It was his first victory on the live tournament circuit.

Muehloecker, who currently sits third in the EPT Player of the Year race, is the only Austrian to sit inside the GPI300. He added EPT points finishing 4th in the Reverse Mix Max event at EPT Vienna just a few short days ago.
