POKER AND THE BEAR

Barry Greenstein GPIHow could we leave the “Robin Hood of Poker” off the list? Barry Greenstein had been dominating cash games in California and other places in the world well before the poker boom. Speaking of the boom, Greenstein joined us this summer at the WSOP for a GPInterview where gave us his thoughts poker, including Chris Moneymaker’s influence on the boom.

Greenstein is no slouch when it comes to the live tournament circuit. “The Bear” has been cashing in tournaments since 1992! His career totals on the live circuit eclipsed the 8M USD mark earlier in 2013.

GREENSTEIN’S HIGHLIGHT REEL

Barry Greenstein GPIConveniently enough, Greenstein’s best season on the circuit was in 2004 – the very first year players could collect points in our Player of the Decade race. Greenstein would started that year off winning his very first World Poker Tour title at the Fifth Annual Jack Binion World Poker Open at the Horseshoe in Tunica, Mississippi. Greenstein followed up that win by taking his first of three bracelets at the World Series of Poker, winning the NL Deuce to Seven Draw 5K event.

Greenstein’s other two bracelet wins were in a PLO event in 2005 and a Seven Card Razz event in 2008 … his second WPT title came in Season IV (2006). That year, Greenstein won the WPT Invitational at the Commerce Casino outside Los Angeles.
