GPI reveals #EuropeanPokerAwards nominees

On the heels of the massive success of the inaugural American Poker Awards, the Global Poker Index has released the list of nominees for the 14th European Poker Awards, sponsored by PokerStars and Roger Dubuis. The event is set to take place at the Portomaso Marina Hilton Hotel March 25, 2015 as the European Poker Tour makes its first ever visit to the island of Malta.

Over 50 poker players, industry leaders and media members each sent in two nominations for every award and four finalists have been retained for each category. A special Jury will meet and participate in a secret vote in order to determine the European Poker Awards winners.

“We thank everyone who attended the American Poker Awards and appreciate all the positive comments that we have received,” proclaimed GPI Chief Executive Officer Alexandre Dreyfus. “But there is no time to rest on our laurels as the European Poker Awards are right around the corner. I’m happy to see so many key members of the European poker scene take part in our nomination panel and am delighted to see all the great nominees for the 14th edition of the European Awards.”

2014 European Player of the Year Ole Schemion will be presented with a unique timepiece from Swiss watchmaker Roger Dubuis. Several other players who won National Player of the Year titles in their respective countries will also be honoured on Awards night.

The Awards will be preceded the GPI European Poker Conference, which will take place earlier in the day.
