GPI September Player of the Month: Joao Barbosa

Congratulations go out to Joao Barbosa (GPI#275) – Global Poker Index Player of the Month for September 2013:

BARCELONA BONANZA

Joao Barbosa GPIA trio of cashes at EPT Barcelona have earned Portuguese poker pro Joao Barbosa the title of GPI Player of the Month for September. Barbosa started the month by earning a cash in the Barcelona Main Event, he followed that up by cashing in the High Roller event and finally, he scored a victory in the 5K NLH Six Handed Turbo event on the final day of competition.

The Barcelona performance allowed him to move up just under 60 spots inside the GPI300; Barbosa sits in 275th position at the moment, second only to Draft Kings frontman Jonathan Aguiar (GPI#84) on the Portugal National charts. Aguiar has announced that he has “retired” from poker, although he will play a few tournaments a year still, it may be a great opportunity for Barbosa to take over the country’s #1 spot in the near future.
