GPI September Player of the Month: Joao Barbosa
Congratulations go out to Joao Barbosa (GPI#275) – Global Poker Index Player of the Month for September 2013:
BARCELONA BONANZA
A trio of cashes at EPT Barcelona have earned Portuguese poker pro Joao Barbosa the title of GPI Player of the Month for September. Barbosa started the month by earning a cash in the Barcelona Main Event, he followed that up by cashing in the High Roller event and finally, he scored a victory in the 5K NLH Six Handed Turbo event on the final day of competition.
The Barcelona performance allowed him to move up just under 60 spots inside the GPI300; Barbosa sits in 275th position at the moment, second only to Draft Kings frontman Jonathan Aguiar (GPI#84) on the Portugal National charts. Aguiar has announced that he has “retired” from poker, although he will play a few tournaments a year still, it may be a great opportunity for Barbosa to take over the country’s #1 spot in the near future.
