GPI sets foot in Brazil; to determine the BSOP’s best

BSOPThe Brazilian Series of Poker (BSOP), sponsored by PokerStars.net, announced earlier today that the Global Poker Index (GPI) exclusive points scoring formula will be used to determined the BSOP Player of the Year for the 2015 poker season. The BSOP joins other major poker circuits – like the European Poker, the World Poker Tour and WPT DeepStacks series – to select the GPI for their points distribution model for their Player of the Year race.

Brazil continues to be a burgeoning market in poker; the country regularly hosts major events with million dollar prize pools as the country’s passion for poker continues to expand. This past summer, Bruno Politano sent the country into a frenzy when he qualified for the World Series of Poker Main Event November Nine, as some of Brazil’s top sports stars showed their undeniable support for Politano.

“I am very happy to see the GPI set foot in Brazil, the most exciting poker market at the moment,” said Global Poker Index Chief Executive Officer Alexandre Dreyfus. “Poker in Brazil is booming thanks to the efforts of the BSOP and its partners. Our mission is to #SportifyPoker and we believe that this association with the Brazilian Series of Poker will go a long way to help in establishing our goal. ”

Sao Paulo is currently hosting the first leg of the 2015 BSOP season as the R$ 2,600 Main Event is set to kickoff on Saturday.
