GPI Tournament Report: LAPC, WPTN Brussels/Venice, Bay 101, Winamax, IPT + More

We take you to Los Angeles, Brussels, San Jose, Paris, Italy, California, Manchester, Venice, Pennsylvania, Bordeaux, Indiana and Oklahoma in this week’s GPI Tournament Report:

WPT L.A. POKER CLASSIC

Online superstar Chris Moorman (GPI#255) was finally able to take the monkey off his back when it comes to the live tournament circuit. After two second place finishes in major events and several other deep runs, Moorman, a 20-time online Triple Crown winner, was finally in the winner’s circle, winning one of the biggest poker tournaments of the year at the WPT L.A. Poker Classic.

French signing sensation, and Winamax Team Pro, Patrick Bruel (GPI#6989) final tabled the event. The former WSOP bracelet winner finished fourth for his second live tournament score in over three years.

WPT NATIONAL BRUSSELS

Danish pro Lasse Frost (GPI#297) added a fourth score to his 2014 poker season winning WPT National Brussels in Belgium.

The former EPT Berlin final table participant would survive a star-studded final table in order to earn the victory, the second of his career on the live tournament circuit. The Brussels final table included two-time WSOP bracelet winner Michael Gathy (GPI#669), former WPT Montreal Champion Jonathan Roy (GPI#167) and Belgian star Kevin Vandersmissen (GPI#281).

BAY 101 2K PRELIM

The Bay 101 Shooting Star kicked off with a sold-out 2K prelim event that saw South Africa’s Ronit Chamani (GPI#282) get the best of American Joe Kuether (GPI#23) heads-up for the title. Both players, along with third place finisher Dan Furnival (GPI#6624), also receive automatic entry into the Shooting Star Main Event.

WPT Borgata Poker Open winner Anthony Zinno (GPI#96) and Bellagio Cup IX champ David Peters (GPI#18) final tabled the event.

WINAMAX TOUR GRAND FINAL

It was an All-France affair at the Winamax Tour Grand Final as Pierre Merlin (GPI#18684) picked up his first poker title defeating Winamax Team Pro Gaēlle Baumann (GPI#1089) heads-up for the biggest score of his poker career.

Former WPT Grand Prix de Paris second place finisher Hugo Lemaire (GPI#1682) finished 9th in the event.

IPT SAINT VINCENT

Walter Treccarichi (GPI#1244) is the latest winner on the PokerStars Italian Poker Tour. Treccarichi defeated fellow Italian Marcello Miniucchi (GPI#2239) heads-up for the IPT Saint Vincent title.

IPT Sanremo runner-up Dario Sammartino (GPI#45), two-time WPT Venice final table qualifier Andrea Dato (GPI#355) and Marko Mikovic (GPI#2198), who won IPT Nova Gorcia in January, all final tabled the event.

HEARTLAND CALIFORNIA

With a few days off in between the L.A. Poker Classic and the Bay 101 Shooting Star, several top pros on the American circuit decided to visit Rancho Mirage to play the latest Heartland Poker Tour event.

Mark Jones (GPI#35126) defeated two-time WPT final table participant Lily Kiletto (GPI#621) heads-up for the latest HPT California title at the Agua Caliente Casino.

Dan Heimiller (GPI#130), Christopher DeMaci (GPI#405) and online star Stanislav Barshak (GPI#888) also final tabled the event.

GUKPT MANCHESTER

All signs point towards Rhys Jones (GPI#302) making a return to the GPI300 soon following his big win at GUKPT Manchester over the weekend.

Jones got the best of Simon Deadman (GPI#175) heads-up for the first title of his career. For Deadman, it’s an impressive seventh score in 2014, three of which are runner-up finishes.
