Are we looking at another German-domination in the World Rankings? …

Jason Mercier GPI

Jason Mercier (GPI#1, =) sits atop the GPI World Poker Rankings for a 10th consecutive time this week, matching his third-best career streak. Mercier has been focusing on the PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) but should be back on the felt shortly with major tour stops in Berlin, Malta and Jacksonville right around the corner.

While Mercier maintains the top spot this week, a pair of German stars are in, hoping to have their shot at Mercier in the coming weeks. It’s a return to the GPI Top 10 for Dominik Nitsche (GPI#8, +3), who made his very first Top 10 appearance in August, only to drop out earlier this month.

Meanwhile, it’s a very first career appearance inside the Top 10 for fellow German Martin Finger (GPI#9, +8), who was crowned GPI Player of the Month for August. Four cashes at the EPT Barcelona Festival, including a High Roller event victory, helped promote Finger to the lead group.

With two players moving in this week, a pair of top-ranked pros are falling out of the Top 10, including Bryn Kenney (GPI#11, -2), who falls out of the Top 10 for the very first time in 2015. Mustapha Kanit (GPI#12, -2) joins Kenney on the outside. Both players represented their respective Nations at the 2015 GPI Poker World Cup last March.
