GPI300: Kaverman, Kitai on the rise
Mercier holds on while Kaverman, Kitai are making another push …
VIEW FROM THE TOP
Thumbs up to Jason Mercier (GPI#1, =) who is spending his 8th consecutive week atop the GPI World Poker Rankings. Mercier, who became the first player to cross the 60-weeks at the top barrier last week, does have a few players threatening to remove him from the top spot.
One of those player, Byron Kaverman (GPI #2, +1), moves to #2 in the World for the fifth time of his career. Kaverman is one spot away from becoming the 11th player in history to reach #1 status. The Ohio man has earned 14 results so far this season and entered the 4,000-point club for the very first time of his career this week.
Speaking of #2 ranked players in the World, Belgian superstar, and former World #2, Davidi Kitai (GPI#7, +3) makes a Top 10 push for the second week in a row. After spending over 11 months ranked inside the Top 10, Kitai had dropped out of the elite group last month only to make his triumphant return in last week’s rankings update.
No first time entries into the GPI300 this week as all six players making their way in are re-entering 300, including former World #44 Vitaly Lunkin (GPI# 293), who returns for the first time in 15 weeks.
