GPI300: Raghavan Moves Up, Welcome Back Pateychuk

A former EPT and WPT Champion makes his way back into the GPI300 this week…

VIEW FROM THE TOP

Ole Schemion GPIGerman star Ole Schemion (GPI#1, -) remains at #1 for the fourth straight week. Schemion, won won the Live European Player of the Year Award last night at the GPI European Poker Awards in Deauville, France, is about to get things going down under at the Aussie Millions.

Just like the #1 spot, the next three spots in the rankings remain the same. That means that Daniel Negreanu (GPI#2, -), Marvin Rettenmaier (GPI#3, -) and Philipp Gruissem (GPI#4, -) all keep their positions in the 300 this week.

Ravi Raghavan GPIWhile Dan Smith (GPI#5, +1) and Vanessa Selbst (GPI#6, -1) switched spots, Ravi Raghavan (GPI#7, +10) made the biggest move inside the Top 10 up three spots to 7th overall. This is Raghavan’s highest ever position inside the GPI300.

With Raghavan’s jump up, Paul Volpe (GPI#8, -1), Mike McDonald (GPI#9, -1) and Bryn Kenney (GPI#10, -1) all drop down one spot in the standings. The good news is that no one drops out of the Top 10 this week.

Jean-Noel Thorel GPIFrench businessman/poker player Jean-Noël Thorel (GPI#163, +121) is the biggest mover this week inside the 300. Thorel, who has cashed in two events so far at EPT Deauville, is the only player to move up over 100 spots this week.

Simon Deadman (GPI#190, +79), Kimmo Kurko (GPI#139, +65) and Philippe Ktorza (GPI#135, +50) are a few of the other big names to move up this week inside the GPI300.

DOWN THE LADDER

Alessandro Longobardi GPIItalian pro Alessandro Longobardi (GPI#207, -49) takes the biggest nosedive this week, falling just under 50 spots inside the 300. Longobardi, who’s most recent scores came in December during the Prague Poker Festival, will need to score soon in order to prevent him from continuing to fall inside the 300.

Australia’s David Yan (GPI#137, -34), Aaron Lim (GPI#240, -23) and Daniel Laidlaw (GPI#103, -20) all lost ground this week … but, there is good news! The poker world is heading to Australia in the next few days (some have already been there for a while!) as the Aussie Millions Main Event kicks off over the weekend. It will be a perfect opportunity for the Aussie trio to reverse the trend next week.

Pateychuk won two events at the Merit Poker Winterfest in Cyprus last week, including a Main Event victory good for over 145K USD.

November Niner J.C. Tran (GPI#232, +76) also made a return to the GPI300 this week after final tabling the Heartland Poker Tour event in Lincoln, California. Tran would finish eighth.

Andy Hwang GPIDefending WPT Borgata Winter Open Champion Andy Hwang (GPI#304, -41) is amongst the nine players who slide outside the GPI300 this week, falling to 304. Unfortunately, Hwang won’t be able to get those points back as he was eliminated early in this year’s event, which plays down to a final table later today in Atlantic City.

Alexander Kuzmin, Tommy Vedes and Sam Razavi are also on the outside looking in this week.
