GPI300: Shorr, Volpe Return to Top 10

A couple of familiar names make a return to the GPI Top 10 this week …

VIEW FROM THE TOP

Daniel Negreanu GPIThis is Daniel Negreanu’s (GPI#1, -) second week as the man to beat in his second stint atop the GPI300. Ole Schemion (GPI#2, -) remains second.

No changes from positions three to six either as former World #1’s Marvin Rettenmaier (GPI#3, -), Dan Smith (GPI#4, -) and Jason Mercier (GPI#5, -) as well as former #2 Philipp Gruissem (GPI#6, -) all keep their positions within the Top 10.

Shannon Shorr GPIA second place finish at the WPT Lucky Hearts Poker Open in Coconut Creek, Florida has allowed Shannon Shorr (GPI#9, +7) to return to the Top 10. Fellow American Paul Volpe (GPI#10, +3) also returns to the list.

Erik Seidel (GPI#13, -4) and Ravi Raghavan (GPI#14, -4) both drop out of the Top 10 this week.

SWIMMING UPSTREAM

Athanasios Polychronopoulos GPIThe funnest name to say in poker, Athanasios Polychronopoulos (GPI#185, +77), a two-time WSOP bracelet winner and current WPT One to Watch, makes the biggest push up inside the GPI300 this week, moving up to #185 in the world following a score at the WPT Lucky Hearts.

Mukul Pahuja (GPI#68, +59) and Justin Zaki (GPI#111, +46), who both bubbled the WPT final table in Coconut Creek, are two other players who move up the ranks this week.

DOWN THE LADDER

Manig Loeser GPIAs older results continue to lose value, Manig Loeser (GPI#254, -84) continues to feel the effect as he falls over 80 spots in this week’s standings. Loeser will need to add new results to his stats sheet in order to stop the bleeding.

Dutch pro Tobias Peters (GPI#219, -42), former EPT London winner Benjamin Spindler (GPI#255, -36) and Australia’s Jonathan Karamalikis (GPI#218, -31) also fall in this week’s rankings.

IN-N-OUT

Blake Bohn GPIAs expected, a strong showing at the MSPT Running Aces event in his home state of Minnesota allowed Blake Bohn (GPI#243, +73) to return to the GPI300, making a huge lead inside the Top 250.

WSOP bracelet winners Joey Weissman (GPI#244, +70), Erick Lindgren (GPI#299, +27) and James Collopy (GPI#300, +2) all make a return to the GPI300 this week.

Matt Giannetti GPIWPT Champions Club and former WSOP November Niner Matt Giannetti (GPI#303, -13) for the first time in a year, when he won his second WPT title at the 2013 edition of the WPT Lucky Hearts.

Fan favourite Roberto Romanello (GPI#312, -47) is one of five other players who fall out of the GPI300 this week. Romanello owns a WPT and EPT title to his credit.
