GPI300: Super Six still strong, WCOOP Champ joins 300

The Super Six remains the same once again plus WCOOP winner Holz breaks 300 barrier …

Dan Smith GPIAnother week, another Dan Smith (GPI#1, -) sighting atop the GPI World Poker Rankings. Smith has been ranked in the Top 10 for over three months now. Speaking of old faces in same places, the Super Six is once again intact this week as Ole Schemion (GPI#2, -), Daniel Negreanu (GPI#3, -), Jason Mercier (GPI#4, -), Scott Seiver (GPI#5, -) and Byron Kaverman (GPI#6, -) will keep their current positions in the standings for another week. Which player will make a move first? We’ll have to wait to find out!

Alex Bilokur (GPI#7, +2) makes a move inside the Top 10 for the second week in a row. Ranked outside the Top 10 just two weeks ago, Bilokur has moved up a total of five spots in the standings since.

Olivier Busquet (GPI#10, +1) is back in the Top 10 this week while recent WCOOP H.O.R.S.E. winner Paul Volpe (GPI#11, -1) drops out of the Top 10 for the first time since July.

SWIMMING UPSTREAM

World traveller Jason Wheeler (GPI#121, +70) and UK superstar Sam Trickett (GPI#116, +44) top the list of our biggest movers this week.

Other notables moving up this week include Paul Berende (GPI#154, +34), David “ODB” Baker (GPI#186, +26) and Yevgeniy Timoshenko (GPI#229, +25).

DOWN THE LADDER

Phil Hellmuth (GPI#145, -43), the most decorated poker player in World Series of Poker history, takes a significant tumble this week, moving down to #145 this week, his lowest ranking since June.

Fabrice Soulier (GPI#129, -42), Tom Hall (GPI#179, -41), Stephen O’Dwyer (GPI#208, -40) and Rocco Palumbo (GPI#266, -35) are a few other notable player to fall in the standings this week.

IN-N-OUT

World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) World Champion Fedor Holz (GPI#295) makes his debut inside the GPI300 this week a day after taking home the huge $1.3M first prize on the virtual felt. Holz enjoyed a great August on the live circuit, winning Player of the Month honors after a battle with Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open and Big One for One Drop winner Daniel Colman.

WPT Champions Club members Andy Frankenberger (GPI#304) and Michael Linster (GPI#334), EPT Champions Anton Wigg (GPI#308) and Ludovic Lacay (GPI#328) and WSOP bracelet winner James Collopy (GPI#309) are five of the 12 players who exit the 300 this week.

ON THE BUBBLE

On the bubble this week is Nuri Hakan Demircioglu (GPI#301) but don’t worry, it’s good news! Three cashes at the Borgata Poker Open, including a 26th place finish in the WPT Main Event sees him continue to pass by his personal best ranking week in and week out. Who knows, maybe cracking the 300 is in the cards for next week?
