GPIPoY: Nitsche Makes Big Jump to Enter Top 25
The calm before the storm at the top of the GPI Player of the Year Race:
SHORR, VOLPE FLIP-FLOP
There were only a few changes inside the GPI PoY Top 25 this week as Daniel Negreanu (GPI#1) retains his lead atop the standings. Fellow Americans Shannon Shorr (GPI#6) and Paul Volpe (GPI#15) switch spots as Shorr enters the Top 5 with his final table performance at a side event at the Master Classics of Poker. Shorr, GPI Player of the Month for October, has certainly been appreciative of his recents successes on the GPI rankings:

Shorr, who has moved up close to 40 spots on the GPI PoY board since October, is headed back home to Birmingham, Alabama for a little rest and then it’s back on the road for the rest of 2013 with stops at WPT Montreal followed by EPT and WPT Prague.
Another US duo – Stephen O’Dwyer (GPI#12) and Bryn Kenney (GPI#16) – also switched positions at 15 and 16.
NITSCHE’S LATE PUSH
The only player to make a significant impact on the PoY board this week is Dominik Nitsche (GPI#39). Nitsche final tabled the WPT Emperors’ Palace Poker Classic for the second straight year last Monday, allowing him to jump up 21 spots on the Player of the Year leaderboard.
Nitsche, known as a man who will play a poker tournament anywhere, anytime, hasn’t yet showed his hand as to which poker tournament circuit he will play on next but, knowing Dominik, I’m sure we’ll find him in a city near you very, very soon.
And in our fun moment of the week … It is well known that Dominik loves to chase new “flags” on The Hendon Mob. After finding out that Casey Kastle (GPI#559) had added to his lead on the “most flags” leaderboard after a score in the Dominican Republic, Nitsche responded to THM’s twitter post:

Looks like Dominik will have to add to his AirMiles totals if he intends on catching the Slovenian 🙂
