GPIPoY: Schemion, Volpe, Negreanu Lead The Way

With only a few months left to the 2013 poker season, the Global Poker Index Player of the Year Race is in full flight:

VOLPE BACK IN THE MIX

Paul Volpe GPIAfter holding the #1 spot on the 2013 PoY Leaderboard, American Paul Volpe (GPI#11) was replaced by Steven Silverman last month. Volpe would end up moving down to fourth recently after EPT Barcelona results impacted the race.

This week, Volpe sees himself move back to #2, trailing race leader Ole Schemion (GPI#6) by only 15 points.

Volpe surpassed Daniel Negreanu (GPI#2) this week, however, Volpe’s lead over Kid Poker stands at less than two points.

BIG MOVES FROM SEIVER, GLANTZ, RAMDIN

Victor Ramdin GPIResults from the recently completed WPT Borgata Poker Open had the biggest impact on the latest GPIPoY standings as Scott Seiver (GPI#20), Matt Glantz (GPI#55) and Victor Ramdin (GPI#101) – who all cashed at Borgata – were able to move up in the GPI PoY standings this week.

Ramdin has a chance to improve on his current PoY ranking prior to the poker world heading to London as he has qualified for Day 2 play at the Full Tilt Poker Montreal Festival at Playground Poker Club near Montreal, Canada. Ramdin heads into Day 2 play with a solid chip stack.

EUROPEAN “VACATION”

Matt Salsberg GPIAn upcoming trip to Europe could help some of the PoY contenders set their course for the remainder of 2013 in hopes of finding the pole position as the season draws to a close.

The EPT London Festival kicks off later this week. With so many qualifying tournaments, London will be a great opportunity to pickup big points.

The circuit them moves to the Parisian suburb of Enghien-les-Bains for WSOP Europe and finally sets-up in the French capital for the WPT Grand Prix de Paris, where WPT Player of the Year Matt Salsberg (GPI#44) became a household name last season.
