Local Legend Nabil Hirezi Wins in Jacksonville

Hirezi prevents Calderaro from earning second WPT title in six weeks

JUST WHAT THE DOC ORDERED

James Calderaro GPIWPT circuit veteran James Calderaro (GPI#620) was seeking his second World Poker Tour title in the State of Florida in less than two months.

Calderaro, who won the WPT Lucky Hearts Poker Open back in February, would reach heads-up play with a second shot at WPT gold. Sadly for Calderaro, local legend Nabil “Doc” Hirezi (GPI#22265) had other plan.

Hirezi would earn the tournament win on a one-outer and the local crowd would go crazy. Calderaro will have to wait another day for his second major title.

CRISTOS, JAKA OUT EARLY

Faraz Jaka GPIWPT Legends of Poker Champion Jordan Cristos (GPI#138) and WPT Season XIII Player of the Year Faraz Jaka (GPI#113) were the first two players out on Tuesday.

Jaka was out within a few hands and Cristos followed him out the door just a little while later.

The tournament action was face-paced and the final table just took a few hours to play out. The WPT takes a few weeks off before the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Showdown kicks off in Hollywood, Florida on April 10th. The event carries a 5M guaranteed prize pool.
