Joseph Serock

Joe Serock has been a legendary online poker tournament performer and in his first few years in live tournament has had some impressive finishes. His live and online poker earnings of approximately $3 million include a runner-up finish in 2010 at the World Series of Poker Europe.

Serock, from Albuquerque, New Mexico, was born on January 27, 1988. He began playing poker online as a 19 year old in 2007. Known online as “lemur” or “floes” or “planetearf,” Serock has built a reputation for consistently bringing in the big money including some impressive online wins.

His online tournament earnings top $1.8 million, and he has broken through with several big wins. Three of his biggest victories on PokerStars and Full Tilt and include the $240 Sunday Brawl in August 2010 for $105,032, the Sunday $500 in July 2009 for $92,820, and the $200,000 Guaranteed in May 2010 for $67,013. Prior to Black Friday, Serock cashed consistently, and had 3 3rd-places finishes in 2010 worth another $178,000.

In live tournaments, Serock’s $1.1 million in tournament winnings through October 2011 include 14 WSOP cashes, 2 WPT cashes, and 5 on the EPT. His career got off to a quick start in 2007, with a WPT cash followed by a 14^th-place finish in the EPT Scandinavian Open in Copenhagen for DKr210,864 ($41,525). He closed out the year with a finish of 15th at the $5,000 NLHE Aruba Classic for $13,340.

The next summer, Serock finished 9th at the EPT Grand Final €2,000 NLHE event at the EPT Grand Final for €12,600, and then took 3rd in $2,000 NLHE at the California State Poker Championship for $13,386. These results also served as preparation for Joe’s first World Series of Poker in 2009, in which he cashed 5 times. His highlight that year was a runner-up finish in the $2,500 NLHE 6-Handed event for $341,783. He also finished 145th in the Main Event for $40,288.

Serock had several more cashes throughout 2009, including a pair of 3rd-place finishes: £1,500 NLHE at the European Championships in London for £18,560 and $4,800 NLHE at the World Poker Finals at Foxwoods worth $52,473.

As 2010 began, Joe finished 8th in the $5,000 NLHE 6-Handed event at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure for $15,110, followed 2 cashes at the L.A. Poker Classic, and another at the EPT San Remo for $17,662. He continued his impressive run with 4 WSOP cashes during the summer. His best result of 2010, however, was in London at WSOP Europe, where he finished runner-up £5,000 PLO, a result worth £98,262.

During 2011, Serock cashed another 4 times at the WSOP four more cashes at the WSOP, including his second money finish in the Main event since 2009.

When not at the poker table, Serock reportedly enjoys skateboarding.
