Ronny Kaiser is a young poker pro from Bern, Switzerland who collected his first live event paycheck in 2008. In his first 3 years in tournament poker, he has cashed 15 times, made 10 final tables, won 2 events including, in August 2011, EPT Tallin, and earned close to $800,000. During that time he also had success playing in online poker tournaments.
Ronny started playing poker online in 2008when he was 18, focusing on Multi-Table Tournaments and PLO cash games. He quickly built up an impressive bankroll as “ronnyr3” on PokerStars, with his first big win in 2008 being a Daily Eighty Grand event for $14,184. The next year, he won 3 SCOOP events for a total of $30,900 and also cashed in the WCOOP Second Chance event for $10,300, and won the WCOOP event #10 for $10,300.
The same year he started playing online, Ronny made his first live event cash. It came when he finished 5th in the 2008 CAPT Velden Open for $9,639, and marked his only live cash that year. In 2009, Ronny cashed at the Swiss Poker Masters in Zurich before winning the €800 NLHE ath the CAPT Graz Open for €23,580. He went on to place 5th in the €4,000 Poker EM NLHE event at the European Poker Championship in Baden to earn €50,990.
Ronny had 6 cashes in 2010, starting with his 34th place finish for A$ 30,000 in the A$10,000 NLHE Main Event at the Aussie Millions Poker Championship in Melbourne. His next cash was a final table, finishing 3rd in the €2,000 NLHE Main Event at the Salzburg Open for €30,320. At the EPT San Remo, he took 20th for €30,000 in the €5,000 NLHE Main Event and at the EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo, he had a runner-up finish in the €1,000 NLHE Bounty Event to collect €23,200. At the Partouche Poker Tour Main Event in Cannes in September, he finished 16th for €52,000. To finish the year, he cashed at the Bodensee Poker Championships in Bregenz, Austria.
In the first 9 months of 2011, Ronny cashed 5 times and won the €4,000 NLHE Main Event at EPT Tallinn to pocket €275,000 and become the first Swiss EPT champion. Prior to his EPT victory, he had cashed in 4 events, making 4 final tables.
At the CAPT Bregenz Open, he finished 8th for €4,050 in the €1,000 NLHE. In Vienna for the WPT, he finished 3rd in the €300 NLHE Turbo for €4,310, and 6th in the €9,600 NLHE High Roller event to collect €24,760. In Helsinki, he came in 4th in the Midnight Sun €1,000 PLO 6-Max event to take home €9,996.
Ronny has become well known as one of the biggest PLO cash game players in Europe. When not playing in live tournaments or online, he can be found in Austrian casinos playing the €100/€200 cash games.
