Vadim Kursevich is a Belarusian professional poker player who made his first live-event cash in 2009. In the first 3 years, Vadim cashed 9 times, made 6 final tables, won an EPT title, and earned over $1.7 million. During that time he was also a successful online poker player.
Born in Belarus on February 1, 1987, Vadim started playing poker in 2007. Focusing on big online tournament events, his biggest score came in 2011 on PokerStars, when he was involved in a five-way chop in the WCOOP Main Event to earn $750,000.
Vadim made his first live-event cash close to home when he cashed twice at the Russian Poker Tour in Moscow. First, he made the money when he finished 12th for RUB 90,000 in the RUB 32,000. Two days later, he finished runner-up in the RUB 32,000 NLHE event to earn RUB 706,000.
Vadim’s next cash was in 2011, when he started the year by making 3 final tables in a row. In April at the EPT Berlin, he entered a field of 733 players to play in the €5,000 NLHE Main Event, emerging in 3rd place to take home €300,000. A month later, he made the final table of the €1,000 NLHE/PLO at the EPT San Remo, finishing 9th to earn €4,495. He ended his EPT final table streak at the EPT Tallinn, where he finished 7th in the €2,000 NLHE for €6,150.
At the 2011 EPT Barcelona, Vadim finished 28th for €18,000 in the €5,000 NLHE Main Event before attending the WPT Rendez-Vous à Paris. In Paris, he finished 3rd in the €5,000 PLO Omaha Cup to earn €67,080. Later the same month, Vadim took 13th in the €3,000 NLHE at the Partouche Poker Tour Main Event in Cannes to earn €6,200.
In January, Vadim started 2012 in France at the EPT Deauville. Sporting his PokerStars WCOOP final table jacket, he took his seat in the €5,000 NLHE Main Event as one of 889 contenders for the €4,267,200 prize pool. Making it to the final table second in chips, he swelled his stack, and found himself heads-up with a 7-1 chip lead over Frenchman Paul Guichard. After 45 minutes, Vadim walked away with his first EPT title, a €10,000 jeweled bracelet, and €875,000. Two days later, he celebrated his new title and his 25th birthday.
When Vadim takes a break from poker, he likes to relax by watching ice hockey. When he goes out for an evening of fun, he enjoys singing karaoke.
