Ryan Smith wins WPTDeepstacks Player of the Year title

Congratulations go out to Canadian Ryan Smith (GPI#741), winner of the 2014 WPT Deepstacks Player of the Year, powered by the Global Poker Index. The GPI’s unique player scoring formula was used for the very first time to determine the WPTDeepstack Player of the Year.

Smith won the DSPT Edmonton Main Event at Casino Yellowhead back in October to put himself in contention for the Player of the Year title. Smith made the trek to California this weekend to play in the final event of the WPTDeepstack season at the Oceans Eleven Casino in San Diego where he would finish 41st in the Main Event and, after seeing other contenders fall along the way, earn PoY honors.

Smith wins, amongst other things, a $15,000 buy-in to the 2015 World Poker Tour Championship as well as a $5,000 WPT Deepstack sponsorship package for the 2015 season.
