September 2014 Poker Player of the Month: Anatoly Filatov

Congratulations go out to Anatoly Filatov – Global Poker Index Player of the Month for August 2014:

Russian star Anatoly Filatov (GPI#58) conquered Cyprus on way to Player of the Month honors for September. Filatov, who scored four times at WPT Merit Classic North Cyprus last month, earned over 900 points last month, collecting over € 170,000 along the way. He collected the most points following his victory in the 10K High Roller event, out-duelling fellow Russian pro Andrey Shatilov (GPI#155) for the title.

But Filatov hasn’t been satisfied with simply cashing in on his August winnings and taking a break, instead, he’s hard at work at the EPT London Festival where he cashed in the UKIPT Main Event over the weekend. Earlier today, Filatov started Day 2 play in the EPT Main Event holding the chip lead.

Also enjoying success in Cyprus, UK pro Oliver Price (GPI#59) is August’s runner-up, earning over 700 points after cashing in three events including an 11th place finish in the WPT Main Event and a 3rd place finish, behind Filatov and Shatilov, in the High Roller.

Price is 18K away from crossing the $1M mark in season earnings for the very first time of his career.
