Sheldon Adelson to Give Keynote at G2E Global Gaming Expo

The schedule for the Global Gaming Expo (G2E) 2014 just got a lot spicier as it was announced that Sheldon Adelson will give an exclusive keynote address at the gaming conference and expo on Thursday October 2nd, 2014.

Adelson is a major “get” for G2E as the multibillionaire typically sends his talking heads to speak at these types of industry events –Andy Abboud at iGNA in March– but with G2E covering the entire gaming industry from Brick & Mortar to online, Adelson probably feels he will have a more receptive audience than at an online hearing or iGaming conference where he would be about as welcome Rick Santorum at a Gay Pride Parade.

While G2E is a gaming industry showcase the focus will certainly be on Adelson’s online gambling remarks, as Adelson is staunch opponent of online gambling and will likely pull very few punches when he covers the topic in his address (he has to talk about iGaming right?), especially considering his previous public statements.

In May, Bloomberg TV spoke with Adelson on the subject of online gambling and the Sands CEO was adamant that online gambling was not right for him, or for consumers –to their credit Bloomberg had the counter to Adelson’s claims on the show in the following days, Borgata CEO Tom Ballance.

The news was announced by G2E’s Sue Schneider (a must follow on Twitter for all you iGaming wonks by the way) and it was simple and straight to the point:

Adelson will not be the only keynote speaker at G2E, but he will be the only speaker on Thursday.

Tuesday, September 30 will see two keynote speakers focusing on the State of the Industry: The Operators:

• James Allen, CEO of Seminole Gaming/Chairman of Hard Rock International
• James Murren, Chairman & CEO of MGM Resorts International

Wednesday October 1 will feature three speakers focusing on the State of the Industry: The Manufacturers:

• Jamie O’Dell, CEO & Managing Director of Aristocrat Leisure, Ltd.
• Patti Hart, CEO of International Game Technology
• Pat Ramsey, CEO of Multimedia Games
