Sun Wins MSPT POY, Betfair at Aussie Millions

Dan Sun Shines on 2012 MSPT

The Mid-States Poker Tour is a series of Hold’em tournaments held at venues throughout the Midwest United States, and the affordable buy-ins offer players the chance for poker wins and diamond bracelets without requiring a massive bankroll. MSPT was created in 2009 and has been garnering more popularity every year since.

Dan Sun captured the 2012 Player of the Year for the tour by winning two events and finishing third in another to cash for a total of $154,007. The Houston-born player has been playing poker since 2004 but took his game more seriously in 2011 as a professional player. He took to the MSPT tournaments in 2012, won two tournaments in a row, and the next final table finish was enough to solidify his POY honor.

According to PokerNews, Sun has used winnings to take a vacation and continue playing poker. He plans to play his first World Series of Poker events in 2013.
