THE GLOBAL POKER INDEX CONTINUES ITS RISE AS THE GLOBAL REFERENCE TOOL FOR POKER RANKINGS

About GPI Logo

Sliema, Malta, 24 October 2012 –

A site redesign, a new logo and becoming the acknowledged leader in live poker rankings for players and poker fans worldwide, the Global Poker Index (GPI) has been in overdrive since it was acquired two months ago by Zokay Entertainement, the gaming and events entity set up by French entrepreneur Alexandre Dreyfus following the sale of his Chiligaming group to Bally Technologies.

And the GPI doesn’t plan to stop there, it has set up poker media partnerships in some 15 countries to cement its position as the reference tool for the poker industry and turn poker into a game of skill and a true sport, with a league table where players’ performances at live events are calculated via a patented formula that follows a set number of criteria (field size, buy-in, event chronology etc.).

For Alexandre Dreyfus, the work him and his 15-strong team have accomplished on the GPI over the past two months has been nothing short of astounding. “We have relaunched and revitalized the brand, the site and increased our presence throughout all the major European poker events. It’s fair to say, in that space of time we have generated such exposure for poker, the events covered and the GPI that we have become the recognized reference tool for poker rankings worldwide.”

The GPI’s value is already recognized by major poker players such as Daniel Negreanu, the Real Kid Poker betting that he would crack the GPI Top 20 by the time the World Series of Poker 2013 kick off and the challenging his Twitter followers that he would make the GPI Top 10 in the same time frame: “I’m also willing to take 3.5-1 that I crack the top 10. You can also have action on ANYONE behind me. Whoever ranks higher by WSOP wins #GPI,” he wrote on the social network.

In the next few weeks the GPI will be launching its app for smartphones and tablets packed with ground breaking features and will add functionalities to the website, such as players and fans being able to customize player lists. It will also be hosting its first GPI awards ceremony in January, further details will be announced shortly, before turning its attention to the US market.

For Alexandre Dreyfus, the aim is clear: to cement the GPI’s position in the poker ecosystem as a worldwide reference tool and resource.
