2014 GPI PoY: Seiver, Kaverman in Contention

Scott Seiver and Byron Kaverman have pushed their way into the PoY Top 10 while Keven Stammen suddenly has company at the top…

SEIVER, KAVERMAN MAKE A PUSH

Scott Seiver GPIGPI Player of the Month for February, Scott Seiver (GPI#2) continued to make waves this week, moving up to #2 in the World on the GPI300 and now moves into the Top 10 in the 2014 GPI Player of the Year race, moving up to #4 in the World, after sitting in 21st last week following scores at the WPT World Championship and a side event win at the EPT Grand Final.

Seiver added more points at the EPT Grand Final this week, finishing 2nd in the 25K High Roller event after agreeing to a deal with German star Philipp Gruissem (GPI#3) during heads-up play.

Byron Kaverman (GPI#5) followed Seiver’s lead. A few hours after finishing second in the WPT World Championship, Kaverman made his way to Monte Carlo. Like Seiver, Kaverman would final table the EPT High Roller event, finishing in 5th position and adding a 6th score this season. Kaverman’s successes see him move to up 22 spots to 7th in the Player of the Year race.

Here is a look at Kaverman’s 2014 PoY results:

TOO CLOSE FOR COMFORT

Keven Stammen GPIComing off his victory at the WPT World Championship, Keven Stammen (GPI#30) was sitting pretty. In first place with a 250+ point lead atop the PoY standings … what a difference seven days makes!

Although he’s still ranked #1, Stammdogg’s big lead has been reduced to 90 points. Ole Schemion (GPI#1), who won the EPT Season 10 Player of the Year race last weekend, moves up one spot following another successful trip to Monte Carlo where he cashed in the Main, the High Roller and the Super High Roller events at the EPT Grand Final.

Speaking of Monte Carlo success, Alex Bilokur (GPI#20) was also able to boost his points total on the season, becoming the third player to cross the 800-point mark in 2014. Bilokur collected four cashes at the EPT Grand Final. He now holds 10 cashes so far in the 2014 season.
