Categories Announced for 4th Global Poker Awards
– 29 trophies expected to be presented

LAS VEGAS, January 23, 2023 – The Global Poker Index® (GPI) and The Hendon Mob™ (THM) are proud to announce the categories for the 4th Global Poker Awards, taking place on Friday, March 3, 2023, at the PokerGO® Studio at the ARIA® Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.
The Awards ceremony will be streamed exclusively on PokerGO® starting at 5:30 pm PT / 8:30 pm ET.
A total of 29 trophies are expected to be presented on Awards night, including trophies for Stephen Song (GPI Player of the Year and GPI Mid-Major Player of the Year) and Cherish Andrews (GPI Female Player of the Year).
Returning categories include the popular GPI Players Choice trophy, as voted by the GPI Top 100 ranked players as of January 4, 2023, Poker ICON, Final Table Performance, and Best Vlogger and Streamer.
Three new categories have been introduced this year led by Best Comeback Player, where voters will choose from a list of star players who have not been ranked inside the GPI PoY Top 1,000 in any of the three previous points-counting seasons (2018, 2019, 2022).
Content creators get a chance at a new award for Rising Star in Content Creation, celebrating those who are new to the content creation game but are already buzzworthy.
Poker fans will once again have their say in the final round as the GPI Fans Choice Awards return with four categories, including the newly established “Fave Live Stream” Award, celebrating all the talented people working in front and behind the scenes in the live poker streaming world. Fans will also get to vote for three returning categories: Best Hand, Poker Personality, and Best Trophy.
The GPI Mid-Major Tour/Festival Award returns for this year’s ceremony. This trophy is up for grabs for the first time since 2020.
Voting panel members are scheduled to receive their Preliminary Round ballots today with Final Round voting set to begin on Sunday, January 29th.
Nominees for the 4th Global Poker Awards are expected to be announced on Thursday, February 2nd, 2023.
