Calderaro Outduels Shorr at WPT Lucky Hearts
After final tabling WPT Jacksonville a few years ago, James Calderaro finally wins his WPT title…
CALDERARO’S CALLING
The WPT Lucky Hearts Poker Open final table was split in half. Three experienced circuit players on one side and three amateurs on the other … and once the three amateur players were eliminated, we knew that one of our remaining pros, how had each made at least one WPT final table in their careers, was finally going to have their name etched on the WPT Champions Cup.
In the end, it’s James Calderaro (GPI#1450) who got the best of Shannon Shorr (GPI#12) and Keven Stammen (GPI#94) to enter the WPT Champions Club. The heads-up battle between Calderaro and Shorr was certainly an entertaining one, the momentum going back and forth a few times before Calderaro finally wrapped things up.
BRAGGING RIGHTS
An fun addition to Calderaro’s win was that he did one better than his girlfriend Lily Kiletto (GPI#587) did last year. Kiletto finished second to Matt Giannetti (GPI#279) in the 2012 WPT Lucky Hearts Poker Open … bragging rights for sure!
After a few years absence, the WPT makes its way back to Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada for the WPT Fallsview Poker Classic starting on February 22nd. The WPT will also be hosting some of the game’s biggest names in South Africa for WPT Alpha8 Johannesburg starting on Valentine’s Day.
