FANTASY FRIDAY: Keep An Eye On Loeser

German star Manig Loeser (GPI#92) is the focus of our latest “Keep an Eye on” series as the WPT opens its season in Cyprus this week. Cards were in the air earlier today and Loeser is one of the early frontrunners.

Known as swordfish007 online, Loeser is one of a few German pros trying to collect the WPT crown as Dominik Nitsche and the man who won this event last year, Marvin Rettenmaier, are here as well.

Loeser has enjoyed a lot of success online as well as live. This past summer, he was one player away from winning his first WSOP bracelet when John Beauprez defeated Loeser in Event #4 – NLH Six Handed.

Loeser has to win a major tournament on the live tournament circuit and this may just be the place where he takes care of this. Loeser travels the live circuit quite a bit and is known as a very solid pro. Aside from his WSOP push,  Loeser also contended in another major event in 2013, running very deep in the Main Event at the PCA – he would end up finishing 16th in the event. In total, he has accumulated a little less than 1M USD on the live tournament circuit.

Manig cashed in this event last year finishing in 33rd position.

EVEN MARVIN IS ON THE BANDWAGON!

In the latest edition of the GPInterview, two-time WPT Champion Marvin Rettenmaier was asked which fellow German poker pro could be picked as the “Next One” and he praised Loeser and his excellent play: He’s made a lot of final two and three tables and just got second in a WSOP event this summer (Event #4 NLH Six-Max) it was well-deserved.

So if Loeser is good enough to be on Marvin’s team, he’s good enough to be on mine!
