FPM Vienna: Fantasy Hi-Five

FPM logoOnly a few events remain on the European Poker Tour schedule before the poker world gathers in beautiful Monte Carlo for the presentation of the EPT Grand Final … and before we head to Sanremo, it’s a return to Vienna for the first time in many years. Day 1B action is heating up at the Hofburg Palace and with FPM lineups locking at the start of Day 2 Tuesday, we take a look at five players that should be on your radar:

SIMON DEADMAN

The UK’s Simon Deadman (GPI#149) is coming into EPT Vienna as one of the hottest players on tour so far in 2014. Deadman has scored in 7 events so far and despite the fact that he has yet to win on the live tournament circuit this year, he has four runner-up finishes to his credit.

Deadman has been a solid tour pro for a few years now, having collected over 1M USD in his six-year career and his 2014 scores include a 2nd place finish in the FPS High Roller event two months ago at EPT Deauville.

Deadman ended Day 1A with 68,100 chips

ADRIAN MATEOS DIAZ

Adrian Mateos Diaz GPICrowned 2013 Rookie of the Year at the GPI European Poker Awards, Adrian Mateos Diaz (GPI#91) was one of the most talked about players to end the 2013 poker season. His list of 2013 accomplishments included a Main Event victory at WSOP Europe, which earned him a €1,000,000 first prize.

Mateos Diaz already has four scores to his credit so far in 2014, including a 2nd place finish in a 2K side event at EPT Deauville, he ended Day 1A with a lot of chips, look for the young Spaniard to keep climbing on Day 2 Tuesday.

Mateos Diaz ended Day 1A with 104,600 chips

LASELL KING

Lasell King’s (GPI#250) name doesn’t normally pop up when discussing Germany’s best poker players. Yet, King found his way into the GPI300 late in 2013 and has been a permanent member of the 300 ever since.

King’s list of accomplishments include a win at CAPT Baden in October and a 40th place finish in the Main Event at the 2012 World Series of Poker. King’s most recent score was a 21st place finish at EPT Prague … he also finished 14th in the Eureka Main Event in Prague.

Lasell King ended Day 1A with 109,700 chips

ZOLTAN SZABO

Former GPI300 member Zoltan Szabo (GPI#1081) is our next player to keep an eye on. Szabo is one of Hungary’s top players and could be one of the players to bring you over the top at the end of the tournament.

Szabo has two EPT scores to his credit, including a 56th place finish at EPT Deauville this past January.

Szabo ended Day 1A with 89,400 chips

SERGIO CASTELLUCCIO

Sergio Castelluccio GPILooking for a Day 1B player to add to your squad despite the fact that Monday’s play is still ongoing? Look no further than Sergio Castelluccio (GPI#815) who has a boatload of chips as of press time.

Castelluccio holds more chips at the 1B dinner break than the overnight chip leader did following Day 1A play. He finished 14th in the WSOP Main Event this past summer in Las Vegas.
