GPI First Look: EPT Deauville Festival

Cards are already in the air at the EPT Deauville Festival as the France Poker Series Main Event kicked off earlier today at the Casino Barrière. 40+ events will be presented over the next 11 days, including the FPS Final and, if last year’s numbers are were any indication, we should be up for another big event! Canadian Patrick Braga (GPI#2664) took down the 2013 event that attracted over 800 players.

The France Poker series will also host a High Roller event is set to begin over the weekend … as is the big one, the EPT Main Event, which starts on Sunday and offers two Day starting days. The Main Event Champion will be crowned on Saturday, February 1st. That day will also see a winner be crowned in the EPT High Roller event.

GPI EUROPEAN POKER AWARDS

The 13th Global Poker Index European Poker Awards will take place on January 29, 2014 at the “Salle des Ambassadeurs” at the Casino de Deauville as part of the EPT Deauville Festival. The event is presented by PokerStars and Lucien Barriere Hôtels et Casinos.

Winners will be selected for Rookie of the Year, Best Tournament Performance, Poker Industry Person of the Year, Internet Player of the Year and European Event of the Year. Also presented on January 29th will be awards for Live European Player of the Year, the Rob Gardner Memorial Award for Poker Personality of the Year as well as the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Several European 2013 GPI National Players of the Year will also be on hand to receive their awards including Stephen Chidwick (GPI#31), won won the race in the UK.
