Jon Turner
Poker veteran Jon Turner had a successful run inside the Rio in June, collecting a total of 14 World Series of Poker results, including two close calls. Still chasing his first WSOP bracelet, it sure looks like Turner has already started focusing on the 2020 World Series of Poker and the hopes of finally winning the gold; for now, the former online legend will have to settle for a GPI Player of the Month nod for June.

Alex Foxen, the reigning and defending GPI Poker Player of the Year isn’t making things easy for those hoping to take away his title in 2019. Foxen, who also ranks #1 on the GPI Global Poker Rankings, continued to add to his points totals in April with a trio of qualifying scores.
His scores at the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown in Hollywood, Florida and at EPT Monte Carlo in Monaco were enough to earn him GPI Player of the Month honors for the second time in the past five months, finishing just two points ahead of Gavin O’Rourke, who scored points in four Seminole Hard Rock events in April, including a pair of victories.

2018 PLAYERS OF THE MONTH
David Peters
2016 GPI Poker Player of the Year David Peters (World #2) is November’s Poker Player of the Month. With results in seven events, five of which counted for GPI points, Peters earns the monthly honor, collecting 950.14 points for the month.
Peters was certainly able to not only collect GPI points but frequent flyer miles as well. He began his November journey at the Aria on the Las Vegas trip, earning 1.3M USD in two events, neither of which met the 32-player minimum criteria to collect GPI points.
He then headed south to the Bahamas, earning two results at the partypoker Caribbean Poker Adventure in the Bahamas.
With many flights back from the Bahamas connecting in Florida, Peters made his way to the Seminole Hard Rock to play the WPT Rock N Roll Poker Open … while he only managed a 51st place finish in the WPT Main Event, Peters was able to win the 5K post-lim event – for the second consecutive year!
Finally, points were collected across the pond in London, where Peters would earn a result in the 888poker LIVE London Main Event.

Ryan Riess
It’s 2013 all over again! Five years ago this week the man known as “The Beast”, Ryan Riess won the WSOP Main Event, and he’s once again in the poker spotlight, earning the title of GPI Poker Player of the Month for October 2018.
Riess’ European Adventure took him to England first – at the partypoker MILLIONS in Nottingham. The Michigan man would final table a star-studded field in the process, adding the England flag to his THM.
It was off to Rozvadov next: After a victory in the WSOP Europe Turbo High Roller, Riess would go on to feature in his second final table of the month, hoping to add another WSOP Main Event title, this time in the Czech Republic.
Alas, it was a fourth place finish for “The Beast” – but that’s exactly what he needed, fourth or better, to move ahead of Martin Kabrhel and earn Player of the Month honors.

Michael Soyza
If you didn’t know the name Christopher Michael Soyza prior to 2018, you do now! Soyza has become a household name in the poker world thanks to a tremendous 2018 poker campaign … which included victories in the Philippines and in Spain last month, two of his seven August results.
The successful run earned Soyza the most GPI Points, making him GPI Player of the Month for August 2018, finishing just 30 points ahead of the Netherlands’ Joris Ruys.

Joe Cada
Players who earn GPI Player of the Month honors usually collect a bunch of results throughout the month, padding their total scores. In the case of former WSOP Main Event Champion Joe Cada, GPI Player of the Month for July, all it took was two results – two BIG back-to-back results.
Cada was oh-so-close in repeating as WSOP Main Event champ, bowing out in 5th position, outlasting well over 6,000 players for the second time of his career.
Instead of heading home to Michigan for some well deserved R&R, Cada joined the field in the final event of the World Series of Poker summer schedule, The Closer … days later, Cada would pick up his fourth WSOP bracelet and finally call it a summer!

David Pham
Rumors of his demise were greatly exaggerated. 51-year-old legend David “The Dragon” Pham is the GPI Player of the Month for March 2018.
After winning a third WSOP bracelet this past summer in Las Vegas, his first tour victory in five years, The Dragon added a pair of Main Event wins in March, first in Las Vegas and then in his hometown of Los Angeles.
VEGAS TO LA
Pham only earned two results in March – but he made them count! First to Vegas where he picked up the Main Event victory at the Wynn Poker Classic, defeating American circuit veteran Kurt Jewell heads-up for the title.
The Dragon then used his home field advantage winning the WSOP Circuit Los Angeles Main Event in his backyard at the Bicycle Casino, surviving the charge of his 704 opponents.
