The time is now … the 45th edition of the World Series of Poker is underway – best of luck to all participants!

CASINO EMPLOYEES GET THEIR DAY

The Casino Employees event kicked off the 45th World Series of Poker earlier today as PokerNews Senior News Editor Chad Holloway (GPI#11469) is set to defend his title in what is annually one of the first bracelets to be awarded at the Rio All-Suites Hotel and Casino.

The quick structure means that players will have to get things going quickly – the event is only scheduled to last two days … although technically, Holloway’s 2013 victory was so late into the night, Day 2 had come and gone before he was able to score the big win.

THE BIG BOYS AND GIRLS ARRIVE AT 4PM

With all due respect to the hard working casino employees, the stars will all be out later today as the 25K NLH Mixed Max event will be the first event where the game’s biggest names will get their first opportunity to shine.

The four-day Mixed Max event will carry a 25K price tag for the first time this season. The winner will certainly have an impact on the GPI300 standings once the bracelet is awarded on Friday.
