Jason Mercier GPI

Jason Mercier (GPI#1, =) is beginning to settle in at the top of the GPI World Poker Rankings. The Florida star begins his 7th week ranked atop the GPI300, the 60th of his career. Although he’s still on top, Mercier’s lead did shrink this week. He lost 20 points to current GPI PoY leader Anthony Zinno (GPI#2, =) in the standings.

A week after making his debut ranked inside the World Top 10, Nicholas Petrangelo (GPI#5 CB, +4) is on the move yet again. Petrangelo gains four spots this week to move to yet another career-best position at #5. The Massachusetts man earned two results during the EPT Barcelona Festival placing 70th in the Main Event and 3rd in the High Roller event.

Two familiar faces make a return to the World Top 10 this week as Mustapha Kanit (GPI#9, +45) and Davidi Kitai (GPI#10, +6) are back up. Each player earned points in the High Roller at EPT Barcelona with Kanit earning the victory.

Other top moves within the GPI300 include GPI Poker World Cup Team France members Paul Tedeschi (GPI#144, +151) and Bertrand Grospellier (GPI#157, +60). ElkY’s rise was much-needed as he was dangerously close from becoming the first-ever GPI#1 to fall outside the GPI300; he was ranked #281 in the World just two weeks ago.

Congratulations go out to the following nine players, who each make their first-ever appearance inside the GPI300 this week: Dmitry Ivanov (GPI#192), Niklas Astedt (GPI#242), Charles Chattha (GPI#250), Mario Lopez (GPI#261), Jussi Nevanlinna (GPI#263), Christoph Vogelsang (GPI#289), Arie Ori Miller (GPI#294), Jyri Merivirta (GPI#299) and EPT Barcelona finalist Steven Warburton (GPI#259).
