GPI300: Schemion Returns to #1

After seven straight weeks at the top, Daniel Negreanu’s reign ends…

VIEW FROM THE TOP

Ole Schemion GPIOle Schemion (GPI#1, +1) returns to the top of the GPI3oo, eight weeks after last being king of the mountain. Schemion added a few points to his GPI Score at EPT Vienna, where he finished 8th in a 2K No-Limit Hold’em event.

The bad news is about to get worse for former #1 Daniel Negreanu (GPI#2, -1). Negreanu lost points this week and with big scores from last April and May set to age in the coming weeks, Kid Poker may be set for a downward swing. We don’t expect to see Negreanu at the poker tables until the EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo.

Vanessa Selbst GPIPositions 3 to 8 remain the same on the charts as Vanessa Selbst (GPI#3, -) begins her third straight week as the #3 player in the world. Selbst hasn’t cashed on the live tournament circuit since the 2014 PCA, but is expected to ramp up her tournament participation in the next little while.

Sorel Mizzi (GPI#9, +1) and Philipp Gruissem (GPI#10, -1) switch positions within the Top 10 this week. Mizzi, who has enjoyed some success in the past few months, earns his highest ranking on the GPI300 since June of 2012.

After struggling for most of 2013, Soulier has put together some very solid results of late, this win in Vienna was his first in 19 months.

Vitaly Lunkin (GPI#153, +141), Benjamin Spindler (GPI#163, +123), Jason Wheeler (GPI#131, +118) and Jonathan Karamalikis (GPI#156, +79) are just a few other big name pros who made the biggest moves up the charts within the 300 this week.

DOWN THE LADDER

Phil Hellmuth GPILack of tournament participation sees Phil Hellmuth (GPI#258, -126) make the biggest move down this week, falling over 125 spots to #258 in the world. Hellmuth’s favourite time of the year, the World Series of Poker, is now less than two months away, the question now becomes will he be a member of the GPI300 heading into the Vegas summer.

Michael Linster (GPI#268, -64), Liv Boeree (GPI#221, -62), Jeff Gross (GPI#215, -51) and Kitty Kuo (GPI#204, -34) are amongst some of the other players who take a tumble in this week’s rankings.

That’s right, Mueller, winner of two WSOP gold bracelets, sits 301st in the world … the last time he was on the the outside, looking in, was for one short week in December of 2012.
