GPI300: Schemion Slips Again, Seidel Back in the Picture

Ole Schemion is suddenly barely holding on to the #1 spot while a former World #1 returns near the top…

VIEW FROM THE TOP

Although Ole Schemion (GPI#1, -) is currently spending his eighth straight week atop the World rankings, it is important to note that the young German yet again lost points earlier today. In fact, Schemion is down 119.04 points in the past 30 days. If he doesn’t arrive at the WSOP and starts cashing shortly, we may have a new #1 very soon.

Vanessa Selbst (GPI#2, -) and Daniel Negreanu (GPI#3, -) continue to lurk, each only a few points behind Schemion in the standings. The Top 7 spots remain unchanged this update with Seiver, Kaverman, Gruissem and Mercier all holding steady.

Paul Volpe (GPI#8, +1), Jonathan Duhamel (GPI#9, +1) and Michael Watson (GPI#10, +1) each move up a single spot in the standings – Sirwatts makes a return to the Top 10 for the first time since February.

Former World #1 Erik Seidel (GPI#12, +18) is back in contention. Three of Seidel’s four cashes so far at the 45th World Series of Poker have gone a long way to help him make the jump up to #12 in the World, his highest ranking since coming in at #11 in April.

SWIMMING UPSTREAM

Don’t be surprised to see Greg Mueller (GPI#188, +90) atop of this list this week. Mueller three cashes so far at the 45th World Series of Poker are his first three qualifying cashes for Period #1. It’s simple, if Mueller played more tournaments, his position within the GPI300 would be solid.

Fellow Canadian Timothy Adams (GPI#134, +68), Mickey Petersen (GPI#168, +68), One Drop High Roller Champion Anthony Gregg (GPI#142, +45) and Jeff Gross (GPI#90, +36) also make big moves up the 300 this week.

DOWN THE LADDER

Daniel Kelly’s (GPI# 192, -90) 2013 successes at the World Series of Poker have continued to lose value, hence why djk123 finds himself losing the most traction inside the GPI300 this week.

Kelly is joined by WPT Champions Club member Jonathan Roy (GPI#243, -60) and former WSOP November Niners Michael Mizrachi and Amir Lehavot (GPI#186, -42).

IN-N-OUT

The Italian Pirate, Max Pescatori (GPI#220), makes a big jump back into the GPI300. Pescatori’s 10th place finish in the 10K H.O.R.S.E. at the 45th WSOP helped him move back in for the first time since June 2012.

Thomas Butzhammer (GPI#251), David Benyamine (GPI#260), Zoltan Purak (GPI#285) and Christopher DeMaci (GPI#300)

As predicated, David Rheem (GPI#437) has fallen out of the GPI300, and hard. Chino has not been able to accumulate the amount of results necessary to remain atop the World’s elite. EPT Champions Sotirios Koutoupas (GPI#305) and Ludovic Lacay (GPI#308) are amongst the other players to drop out of the 300 this week.

ON THE BUBBLE

John Racener (GPI#268) was the player on the hot seat the last time we took a look at the player on the bubble. Racener has found his way back into the 300 since, currently sitting in 268th position.

Ashton Griffin (GPI#301) will have to hope for a few more WSOP scores in order to make a return to the GPI300. Griffin, who way a mainstay inside the 300 for the second half of 2013, has only spent a few weeks inside the Top 300 so far this season.
