GPI300: Schemion, Smith shake things up at the top

A pair of former World #1’s are trying to push their way back to the top…

VIEW FROM THE TOP

Scott Seiver GPIComing off a strong performance Scott Seiver (GPI#1, =) is safe for another week. A strong Main Event performance at the EPT Grand Final sees Ole Schemion (GPI#2, +1) back up one spot and right on Seiver’s heels.

Another former World #1 has jumped right back into contention. After spending 90 days away from the Top 10, Dan Smith (GPI#3, +17) storms back into the lead group this week, earning his best ranking this season. Smith earned a pair of critical cashes at the EPT Grand Final, including an 8th place finish in the 25K High Roller event.

This is the second week in a row that we have a new member inside our Top 10. Last week, Mustapha Kanit (GPI#11, -1) moved in … he drops out again this week, sitting on the bubble at #11. His Global Poker Masters Italian teammate Dario Sammartino (GPI#12 CB, +23) moves up to a career-best #12 this week, just two spots shy of a Top 10 debut.

SWIMMING UPSTREAM

Quite an impressive feat by PokerStars Team Pro Isaac Haxton (GPI#126, +148), who almost jumped half the GPI300 field this week to earn his highest ranking since June 2013.

As expected, former World #2 Philipp Gruissem (GPI#152, +123), who had taken a tumble in last week’s standings, is back up in the safe zone following his 5K No-Limit Hold’em side event victory at the EPT Grand Final.

DOWN THE LADDER

A rough start to 2015 has seen Anatoly Filatov (GPI#209, -70) fall to a one-year low #209 this week. After scoring over 3,400 points in 2014, the star Russian has yet to put up points so far this season.

2010 World Series of Poker November Niner John Racener (GPI#193, -55) also takes a tumble this week. Racener has been a member of the GPI300 since June of last season.

IN-N-OUT

WSOP bracelet winner and WPT Champions Club member Rocco Palumbo (GPI#285) wasn’t able to complete the Triple Crown at the EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo, but a side event victory in the 3K No-Limit Hold’em Escalator event went a long way in helping the star Italian player to make his way back into the GPI300 for the first time since October 2014.

Congratulations to Charlie Carrel (GPI#198), Felix Stephensen (GPI#248), Damian Salas (GPI#275), Hossein Ensan (GPI#297) and online star Jason Mo (GPI#298), who all make their GPI300 debut this week.
