Anthony Zinno (GPI#1, =) is spending his second consecutive week atop the GPI World Poker Rankings. While he was unable to secure any points in the WSOP Main Event, Zinno is still riding high following a torrid first part to the 2015 poker season.
The reigning WPT Player of the Year and GPI WSOP PoY contender became the 10th player, and 6th American, to hit the #1 spot in the World Rankings last week.
Two other American #1’s are also in the spotlight this week as Jason Mercier (GPI#2, +6) and Scott Seiver (GPI#4, +8) are making some big strides to return to #1.
Mercier, who has spent the most total weeks at #1 in GPI history, scored points in four events at the World Series of Poker, including the addition of gold bracelet #3 in the 5K NLH Six Handed event, defeating UK pro Simon Deadman (GPI#32, -4) heads-up.
As for Seiver, it wasn’t the best of WSOP’s for him, although he more than made up for it finishing second at the inaugural Super High Roller Bowl. Seiver left the Aria Resort & Casino $5.1M USD richer.
Another successful run at the World Series of Poker sees Paul Volpe (GPI#9, +2) make a return to the GPI Top 10. Volpe dropped out of the lead group just a few short weeks ago.
