Ten of the GPI’s Top Players to Become WPT Bay 101 Shooting Stars

June 10th, 2014 – San Jose, California – Global Poker Index (GPI) is partnering with Bay 101 to bolster its annual World Poker Tour Shooting Stars event with the addition of the 10 elite players – 5 from GPI’s 2014 Player of the Year Leaderboard and 5 from its GPI 300 Rankings – as signature ‘Shooting Stars’ bounty entries for the next edition of the event, slated to run in 2015.

Eligible GPI Shooting Stars can look forward to enjoying a wealth of perks come game time as well, including private jet transfer from LA or Las Vegas to play, collecting special appearance fees, and exclusive VIP treatment throughout the entirety of the event.

For Bay 101, partnering with GPI to push it’s WPT Shooting Stars event to the next level was an easy choice. As WPT Executive Tour Director and Bay 101 Tournament Director Matt Savage explains, “GPI’s top ranked players are the game’s biggest stars. Enticing them to come and play this event is a great way to help grow it’s reputation as a can’t-miss global tournament stop. At its core Poker is about recognition and achievement, and letting the best players in the world enjoy the fruits of their successful poker journeys with exclusive perks is important. Not just to get them in the door, but as a way to celebrate what they’ve achieved and motivate legions of other players to strive for that same level of success too.”

GPI CEO Alex Dreyfus echoes these sentiments, saying “I’m excited to give more and more benefits to the players that reach the Top of the GPI rankings, both in our GPI 300 leaderboards as well as our Player of the Year points race. Our mission is to help poker to become more structured, bring more recognition to players based on performance, results, and consistency. Partnering with Bay 101 for their WPT Shooting Stars stop is a great next step in this direction. We’re excited, and this initiative will be followed by more announcements soon”.
