GUKPT Luton Latest, Duhamel to Play Premier League, GPS Heading to DTD

Chattaway Leads GUKPT Luton

By the time registration closed on Day 1A of this year’s GUKPT Luton Main Event a total of 92 entrance fees had been collected.

Among the pros grinding their way through the day was some of the UK’s finest, including Sam Grafton, Ross Boatman and Zimnan Ziyard; however, by the time the session had come to a close it was William Chattaway out in front.

Thanks to a 138,825 chip haul the Englishman managed to top the remaining 32 players and put himself in a strong position heading into Day 2. With only two previous cashes to his name, Chattaway will be looking to continue his positive run when he returns to the felt on Saturday.

Things certainly won’t be easy for the young grinder though as he’ll be squaring off against the likes of Grafton and Boatman who also made it through the day with healthy chip stacks.

Day 1B kicked off earlier and at the time of writing the event’s reigning champion, Jamie O’Connor, had just taken to the felt and increased his starting stack by 6,000 chips.

Duhamel Joins Premier League

Former WSOP World Champion Jonathan Duhamel will form part of the all-star line-up which will sit down and compete for PartyPoker’s Premier League title on November 20.

Indeed, Jonathan is the latest player to join a stellar roster that includes: Vanessa Selbst, Jeff Gross, Antonio Esfandiari and Phil Laak.

Although Jonathan is a veteran of the TV tournament, he is looking forward to taking part in the $125,000 event in his native Canada. Moreover, Jonathan is excited to test his skills in the new format that PartyPoker has created for the seventh incarnation of the event:

I’m particularly pleased to participate in this new edition of Premier League Poker. I had a blast last year and I’m motivated to face all these great players again. The fact that the league is held in Montreal this year makes the experience all the more exciting to me. I’m sure it will be a memorable edition!

GPS Finds its Way to Nottingham

The increasingly popular Genting Poker Series has just announced the inclusion of a new stop on its Season 2 schedule.

With more and more players looking to take part in the festival the organisers have decided to visit Europe’s largest poker venue, Dusk Till Dawn, in January and host a £100,000 guaranteed event.

Kicking off online on January 8, the latest leg will then get underway in Nottingham on January 9 and play through until an eventual winner is crowned on January 12.

It’s hoped that DTD’s location and reputation will help make the event one of the largest in the tour’s history. Indeed, commenting on the latest partnership, DTD’s Rob Yong said:

The GPS series is all about grass roots poker, with many opportunities for the man in the street to qualify and win life changing money, so I am very happy to be hosting a leg at DTD. I hope this is just the start of more collaborative projects between Genting and DTD as we both channel our energy in to promoting poker in the UK and attracting more new players into this wonderful game.”
