LAS VEGAS, July 1, 2021 – 2013 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event Champion and a 22-time winner on the live tournament poker circuit, Joseph McKeehen, has become the 20th player to ever be ranked #1 in Global Poker Index (GPI) history.

McKeehen replaces back-to-back reigning and defending GPI Player of the Year Alex Foxen at #1 as the GPI announced the relaunch of their rankings earlier this week. Incredibly, Foxen and Stephen Chidwick were the only two players ranked #1 on the GPI since April 18, 2018 (over three years) before McKeehen took over on Wednesday.
Nadya Magnus takes over from Kristen Bicknell
Speaking of streaks, Nadya Magnus ends Kristen Bicknell’s mind-boggling 144 consecutive week streak as the #1 ranked woman on the GPI. Magnus also kicks off the 2021 PoY season ranked #1 in the Female Player of the Year race; Bicknell has won the Female PoY title for a record three consecutive years.
Ali Imsirovic starts first in 2021 GPI PoY
2018 Global Poker Award winner for Breakout Player of the Year, Ali Imsirovic, leads the 2021 GPI Player of the Year race heading into July. Imsirovic, who also stands atop the PokerGO Tour Leaderboard, holds a 418-point lead over WPT at Venetian Main Event Champion Qing Liu.
Jordan Cristos takes GPI Mid-Major PoY lead
Finally, the newly created GPI Mid-Major Player of the Year race, which rewards the top GPI scoring poker player in events $2,500 USD and below, sees Jordan Cristos as its first leader. Cristos also sits third in the overall race for 2021.
