Khodiyara Shows His Mettle in Sheffield
Genting Poker’s hugely successful Sheffield event came to a conclusion yesterday after 562 players morphed into one.
Hasmukh Khodiyara was the man holding all the chips when the final curtain came down, meaning that when he’d taken a bow for the cameras the title, trophy and £50,000 first place prize was his.
After two days of play just 29 players stood on the cusp of victory and with the prize glinting in the distance like an oasis in the desert, each player made a break for the front.
The ensuing chaos meant a swift decrease in the field until just nine players remained. Once the final table was set it was Tim Chung who fell by the wayside.
The dangerous grinder couldn’t win a race with AQ and left with £4,500 for his troubles. A slew of eliminations followed and when just two remained it was Khodiyara who was in charge.
Despite a valiant effort from Stephen McGrath, Khodiyara claimed the title when his [Ah] [Jh] held the lead against McGrath’s [Qc] [Tc].
Genting’s next festival will take place in London’s Fox Poker Club where the £1,600 main event will be flanked by a tantalising £5,350 high roller.

Negreanu Talks Integrity in Poker
At the tail end of last week Daniel Negreanu finally released the latest edition of his video blog. Hugely popular amongst the poker community, this time around Daniel focuses on integrity and its place in the poker industry, using examples from his own life to detail its importance.
Indeed, it seems that Daniel has been on both sides of the coin when it comes to money issues, but asserts that as long as someone is willing to admit their mistakes then they should be granted a chance to redeem themselves.
Highlighting the cases of Justin Bonomo and Sorel Mizzi, Daniel urges the community to look leniently on those who’ve paid their dues, but weed out those who continue to deceive us.
As ever it’s an insightful rant that provokes a lot of emotion and discussion.
