Poker Pro in Tragic Death

British poker pro Mehmet Hassan was the unfortunate victim of “honey-trap” killing last weekend according to a report in the Daily Mail.

According to the article, Hassan won £3,000 at the Palm Beach casino in Mayfair last Sunday and shortly after leaving the venue he dined at the nearby Nobu restaurant with an as yet unnamed female.

Early reports from crime scene have suggested that Hassan was attacked and tied up while the 24-year-old female stole his winnings plus other cash in the London flat. The female in question then fled Hassan’s flat where he was found dead the following morning by his daughter.

Hassan’s friend and fellow cash game grinder Andrew Perendes told reporters that both of them had “always gambled“.  He also stated that Hassan would regularly have at least £20,000 in cash sitting in his flat and that he believes the incident was a “set-up”.

Among those offering their condolences was Vicky Coren who tweeted: “I am incredibly sad to hear about the awful death of Mehmet Hassan. He was an Old School gambler, smart and funny, who always made me smile.”
