Second Largest EPT Berlin Ever; Jonathan Ross to Play at EPT Grand Final

Mizrachi Rises at EPT Berlin

This season’s EPT Berlin became the second largest ever after Day 1B’s field swelled to 565 runners, yesterday.

That total pushed the overall field to 912, one more player than the 911 who contested the Berlin Cup which came to a conclusion on Sunday.

Throughout the day a sea of pros washed over the tournament tables inside the Grand Hyatt Hotel and it was a case of sink or swim as the blinds increased.

Indeed, those who couldn’t keep up with the tide over the course of the session included, Chris Moorman, Dario Minieri, David Vamplew and Toby Lewis.

However, for every big name that lost their chips, another familiar face was there to scoop them up. At the close of play it was Michael Mizrachiwho profited the most from the downfall of others.

When the final chip counts were in, the American topped the leaderboard ahead of such luminaries as Sam Grafton (135,900), Benny Spindler (56,000) and Marvin Rettenmaier (47,500) with a haul of 175,400.

Day 2 kicked off earlier with 452 players still in contention for the €880,000 top prize.

Play Jonathan Ross in Monte Carlo

This year’s EPT Grand Final will not only feature the newly created Monaco Cup and a host of cash games operated by PokerStars, but a charity event featuring TV presenter, Jonathan Ross.

The popular UK chat show host recently competed in a similar PokerStars’ event after declaring his love for the game and will now feature in the EPT’s end of season spectacular.

Lining up alongside some of the best UK’s players, including Liv Boeree and Jake Cody, Ross will compete for a £10,000 charity prizepool.

In addition to Ross lending his star power to the event, amateur poker players are also being given the opportunity to take part in the tournament and win a top prize of £5,000.

Through a series of satellites that start from just £1, players will be able to win their way through to EPT’s most prestigious festival.

The EPT’s Grand Final in Monte Carlo is expected to be one of the largest ever, with 50 tournaments scheduled to take place between May 6 and May 15.
