Selbst, Quoss Amongst New One Drop Participants

The World Series of Poker announced that 10 new names have been added to the list of Big One for One Drop participants, moving the total to 32 registered players:

Vanessa Selbst GPIVanessa Selbst (GPI#4) will become the very first woman to participate in the Big One for One Drop. The 1M USD buy-in event is set to host 56 poker professionals and business people starting on June 29th, 2014. Selbst is one of the first 29 participants to have bought into the event. I’m so excited to be taking part in The BIG ONE for ONE DROP this year,” said Selbst. “I didn’t get to play in 2012, but after seeing how much fun everyone had with the event as well as how profound an impact it had on ONE DROP, I knew I had to be a part of it this time around.

Selbst is one of 10 new additions to the 2014 field. German star Fabian Quoss (GPI#74) and US pro Anthony Gregg (GPI#202) are two others who have bought into the event.

Gregg won the One Drop High Roller event that was presented in place of the 1M Big One for One Drop event in 2013. He took home a massive $4,830,619 paycheque following the most lucrative win of his poker career.

THE CURRENT FIELD OF 32

Antonio Esfandiari GPIWe will see, at the very least, 32 players enter this year’s event. Inaugural One Drop Champion Antonio Esfandiari (GPI#95) and runner-up Sam Trickett (GPI#307) have each already bought into this year’s event as have GPI Top 10 members Philipp Gruissem (GPI#3) and Jason Mercier (GPI#7).

A total of nine GPI300 members are currently registered for the event, including former World #1’s Mercier and Erik Seidel (GPI#39).

Other than the 29 registered players, three spots are going to come from satellite events that will be presented at the ARIA and at Bellagio. The Rio will also host a $25,300 USD satellite the night before Day 1 of the event. Players will be able to qualify for the 25K satellite for as little as $200 in a “steps” satellite format. The smaller buy-in steps towards the 25K satellite will be held on June 26th and 27th.
